The Truth About Hypnosis

Hypnotize. Here are the top ten myths about hypnosis and the facts.

Myth #1: The Hypnotist can control my mind.

Fact: No one can take over your mind, unless unless of course you let them. At no point while you're hypnotized you lose control of your mind. If you hear a suggestion that you don't agree with, your subconscious mind will automatically ignore it.

Myth #2: I will be made to perform embarrassing and ridiculouse acts.

Fact: This is based on Stage Hypnotism. The truth is, these people volunteer to act on stage. They willingly take part in silly suggestions. Hypnotherapy is actually a serious process of self-improvement, not entertainment as most people believe.

Myth #3: Hypnosis originates from "Black Magic" or it is "Supernatural".

Fact: I tis completely natural to hypnotize someone and it has been studied scientifically. Hypnotherapists are not Psychics and they don't have any special powers. Hypnotherapy is based on many years of clinical research by famous Psychologists such as Dr. Sigmund Freud and Dr. Carl Jung, and more recently, by Dr. Milton Erikson and Dr. John Kappas.

Myth #4: It is dangerous to get hypnotized.

Fact: Hypnosis is very safe and it is actually a state of hyper-awareness. You can easily come out of a hypnotic state by opening your eyes and streatching and speaking.

Myth #5: I have never been hypnotized before.

Fact: Everyone naturally enters some state of hypnosis at least two times a day, just before you fall asleep at night, and when you wake up every morning. Most people easily enter 'Environmental Hypnosis' while watching TV, at the movies, driving along the highway, or while reading a great novel.

Myth #6: Hypnosis is a "Miracle Cure".

Fact: While Hypnosis can be a quick method of making permanent self improvements, there is no such thing as a one-time "Hypno-Miracle"! Everyone progresses at their own rate. Be carefull of people who make crazy claims.

Myth #7: Someone will confess anything when their hypnotized.

Fact: Hypnotherapy sessions are kept stricly confidential and cannot be used for court testimony at all. You cannot be forced to say anything you don't want to while you are hypnotized.

Myth #8: When Hypnotized, I will have no memory of the session, and will lose all sense of my surroundings.

Fact: You are not in an unconscious state of sleep while hypnotized. The truth is, most people report having a heightened sense of awareness, focus an concentration, and can even hear alot better under hypnosis.

Myth #9: Self-Hypnosis is safer and more effective than going to a professional.

Fact: This can actually cause more problems and stress in the long run. Hypnotherapy directly accesses the subconscious mind, while Self-Hypnosis cannot.

Myth #10: I cannot be hypnotized because my mind is too strong.

Fact: This has been proven untrue. A long time ago people thought that only 50% of the worlds population could be hypnotized. Over the last 30 years, Dr. John Kappas developed methods to induce hypnosis in 100% of the population.
